Who was Guy Fawkes, the man the English burn every November 5th?

Guy Fawkes Night is a celebration that takes place mainly in the United Kingdom on the night of November 5th.

The celebration commemorates the failure of the attack of November 5, 1605, known as the Gunpowder Conspiracy, by which a faction of Catholics, including Guy Fawkes, tried to destroy the Palace of Westminster, the seat of parliament in London.
